Good day, everyone! Apologies for the delay of our regular Lyza Scratch Challenge (LSC) updates, as we recently went through as many as four exciting rounds of LSC sessions. Certainly a busy week for us!
Contrary to what many parents expected, the “arena” was ironically filled with fun and laughter, as many kids got a chance to mingle with not just their friends, but also some new friends that hail from all over Singapore!

It does blend well with the theme of “Kebbi Explores Singapore”, as it is not only our iconic robot exploring the country, but also participants too, getting to know peers from other centres and classes.
With participants as young as seven, it is natural for projects to be quirky and creative (we adore their imagination!). But what is truly inspiring is how seriously they take competitions, demonstrating independence and wonderful use of coding skills.

We sat down with our STEM and Curriculum Intern, Renae, who invigilated this week’s sessions, to share her insights.

Hi Renae, would you be able to name a particular moment that has caught your eye last week?
I noticed that there were a quite a few students that came in prepared, and even some that practiced, enlisting help from their parents on getting pictures and music, even AI-generated ones.

Some of our students participated in the LSC too, with some being as young as seven. What was it like for you, seeing them code?
It was inspiring to see them caring a lot about the competition, with so much hard work being put into it beforehand. Some came with a plan, and insisted they did not want help. They look like my friends majoring in Computer Science (CS) at NUS!

How do you think of creating projects with Kebbi on Scratch during the December holidays? What was the participants' reaction when they tried doing it?
A number of them seemed to be rather experienced with Scratch and Kebbi, and while coding their projects they looked focused and concentrated.

There is a lot of hype on AI-generated content and vibe content. While it is undeniably efficient, do you think it is still important for kids to pick up coding, instead of such ready-made tools?
Yes, coding teaches the fundamentals of how AI tools work, where one would need to understand before using well.
I think some parents are getting excited about the results of the LSC, which is coming soon in about a week’s time. What is something you would like to tell them?
Regardless of the results, I believe it was still a very fun and engaging experience for the participants to try.
I wish them all the best for their results! Other than LSC, there are also other competitions for students to participate, so that is also something they can look forward to in 2026 as well.

Lyza Education has a host of other competitions lined up for next year, from Technovation Girls 25/26 to EdTech Quest. We will be sharing more in the upcoming weeks on our latest update on competitions, so tuned to further updates! |

We hope all the participants have enjoyed participating in the competition thus far!
Would you want to enroll your child for Scratch classes with us, where they would not just create projects with our unique Kebbi, but also learn how to create games and animations with him too! Contact us to learn more!
