During the September holidays, many students attended our holiday camps. At Lyza Education, we often host the Coder series to celebrate students across all age groups who display outstanding coding skills, creativity, and a genuine passion for learning.

In this series, we talk to some of our students that have displayed great work during the holidays.
Shao Yu, 6
Hi, can you introduce yourself?
I am Shao Yu, and I am 6 this year. I like playing hide-and-seek with my sister and Lingokids on my iPad.
What would you want to create with codes?
I want to create a game with Pandas. I also watched the Minecraft movie and played Minecraft while at my friend's house, so I think I want to create a project on that too.

What is your favourite project?
I like making Kebbi move around by coding it. I also like seeing Kebbi dance, I like seeing it dance to Sigma Boy!

Did you know? |
At Lyza Education, we’ve started creating original in-house dances for our very own iconic AI robot Kebbi, featuring styles like K-Pop, Mandopop, and Pop. This idea came from our collaboration with the Science Centre, where one of the requests was for Kebbi to provide entertainment for children. P.S. Is your child a fan of “KPop Demon Hunters”? We are currently coding the choreography too! |
Branson, 7
What motivated you to participate in the class this September?
Because I want to learn how to code. I know that in the future, robots are going to be everywhere and I want to be ready. Imagine a robot coming to Singapore, and some people don’t know how to use it. I'll be able to use them and even teach my parents how to use them too! But first, I need to learn how to code properly, so I can be the one controlling the robots.

Which project are you most proud of and why?
My favourite project was the 'Explosion' project! It was the most fun because I was able to put in a lot of funny sound effects. I made it so that when you touch Kebbi's head, it makes three fart sounds, but if you don't touch it, it only makes one. Then, when I give Kebbi a high five, it makes another fart sound. At the end, Kebbi says it needs to go to the toilet. It was super funny and made everyone laugh!

What coding concepts did you learn or improve (e.g. loops, AI)?
I learned a lot about how to make Kebbi do things. My favourite part was using the 'start block' and the 'logic blocks' to tell Kebbi what to do. I also got to play with all the sounds, lights, and motion blocks. I think sounds were my favorite part to code because I could make Kebbi say all sorts of funny things.
What is one coding aspiration that you have for 2026?
I want to build my own robot! I want to be able to design it and then program it to do whatever I want. But first, I want to learn how to program and code Kebbi all by myself.

Sherine, 9
Hi, can you introduce yourself?
I am Sherine, I am from CHIJ Primary Toa Payoh.

What other activities do you enjoy besides coding?
I also enjoy badminton and basketball.
What other activities do you enjoy besides coding?
I feel like coding is quite interesting to me and the lessons are engaging.
Did you enjoy coding?
Yes, it is fun, I even got to meet a robot named Kebbi. At Lyza Education, coding truly makes me happy. I enjoy having robots around in my life, and I’ve always wanted to know how they work. Ever since I joined, I’ve finally been able to understand step by step how coding works.
Which project are you most proud of and why?
I am actually proud of each one of my projects, as I spent hard work and perseverance doing them.
What is one coding aspiration that you have for 2026?
I want to build a project with my friends, where we can share ideas together to build a massive project and share as one.
