What makes Lyza Education Different from Other Coding Classes?

Many parents assume coding classes outside school simply repeat what students already learn in class. At Lyza Education, we do things differently. Our programmes go beyond the standard school syllabus by emphasising hands-on, project-based learning, exposure to both block- and text-based languages (e.g. Scratch, Python, app development, AI & IoT), and small teacher-student ratios (1:6) so each child receives individualised guidance. We also build student portfolios and cultivate real-life problem-solving, logical thinking, creativity and computational thinking, skills that schools may introduce, but rarely explore with the depth or flexibility that prepares kids for future technology challenges.

Smaller class sizes at 1:6 ratio

Our classes are much cozier, with a 1:6 teacher-student ratio, compared to traditional school classes that might have up to 40 students per teacher. This smaller size makes it far easier for students to interact with teachers and get their coding questions answered thoroughly. In fact, during interviews for our “Coder of the Term”, some students said that while they had also learnt coding in school, they found it difficult to fully understand the concepts: their teachers often have to manage large class sizes, which meant less opportunity for individual support and clarification.

Trained teachers

Our teachers undergo rigorous training before stepping into classrooms: they begin by mastering every coding concept they would teach, spend hours observing classes to absorb best practices, and pass assessments designed to ensure they are not just familiar with theory, but fully equipped to teach it. With this preparation, you can rest assured that your child will be guided by instructors who are knowledgeable, confident, and deeply committed to helping each learner succeed.

In addition, many of our instructors come from real-world tech backgrounds, be it software development, data engineering, or other tech sectors. This gives them first-hand insight into the demands of the industry, allowing them to bring classroom concepts to life through personal stories, practical examples, and authentic inspiration. Such exposure helps students see beyond the classroom, to what’s possible if they pursue tech themselves in the future.

Curriculum

At Lyza Education, we believe in standing out. One major example is our exclusive distributorship of Kebbi, the AI social robot, which underscores our commitment to bringing unique educational tools into the classroom.

We take a personal approach to curriculum design because we know our students best; our goal is to empower them to excel in tech using a custom-crafted curriculum. Over countless hours, we have refined our programmes so that every student not only learns, but gets to create their own unique projects, with our teachers’ guided help, ensuring their learning journey is both meaningful and inspiring.
