It is a very typical scene during the holiday period for some students to have their very first dive into the world of coding, and their first stops were the beginner-friendly playground of MIT App Inventor and the powerhouse language, Python.

In this interview, we talk to Jia Xuan and Tiffany, two girls that spent the recent Winter holidays learning to code and we learn about their journeys in the world of coding.

Hi Jia Xuan, what is something you have learnt while attending lessons at Lyza Education?

I learnt a lot about Python, from data types, loops and practiced on it with fun challenges on Kebbi.

What is your favourite project?

Teacher Colin taught me on many different concepts and through it I managed to create my own Random Game, where a random number would be generated and a user has to guess for the number to double their earnings! I like it that I could implement my ideas on this project.

What do you like most about attending lessons here?

I get to learn more things about Python. I previously heard on Python and coding but I did not know what it is, but through lessons I got a better idea.

Hi Tiffany, what is something you have learnt while attending lessons at Lyza Education?

I learnt how to create games on MIT App Inventor.

What is your favourite project?

I like creating my own final project. I spent hours creating it on the last day and I realised that it was not easy. However, teacher Rachel was patient in guiding me through, and helped me add interesting elements into my game!

What do you like most about attending lessons here?

I enjoyed seeing my projects live in action. I also got to make new friends during the week, and I got to exchange my hard-earned Kash for some gummy bears!

Who says learning to code is only about typing on computers? The girls have shown how they can take eye-breaks well, literally!

Learning to code is often pictured as a solitary journey, but as young learners like Jia Xuan and Tiffany discovered, it's a vibrant, collaborative adventure. Their holiday experience at Lyza Education, diving into MIT App Inventor and Python, was about more than mastering loops and building apps, it was about shared laughter, teaming up to debug tricky problems, and building a whole new set of friendships along the way. They proved that a first foray into tech is as much about human connection as it is about digital creation. Ready for your child to experience the joy of learning, building, and collaborating? Spark their own coding adventure, explore our upcoming classes and see where their creativity takes them.
